Dr. Kathleen ‘Kat’ McCleskey, NCC

Kat McCleskey is currently an Assistant Professor in and Program Director in the Counselor Education Program at Longwood University where she teaches classes such as Lifespan Development, Multicultural Counseling, and Techniques of Counseling. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Virginia. Her clinical work has included addiction counseling, prevention counseling, family counseling, emergency screening/crisis work, career counseling, and clinical supervision. She uses a feminist and multicultural approach in counseling, supervision, and pedagogy. Within multicultural work, spirituality and religious perspectives are of particular interest to her. Her current scholarship focuses on applications of feminist theory in terms of clinical work, training, and counselor and client identity, and on multicultural issues in counseling. Other interests include knitting and crocheting, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors.
